Several locations usually off-limits to the public will open for one day in a Wiltshire town.

Chippenham residents will have the chance to discover a range of secret areas in the town centre during Heritage Open Day on Saturday, September 14.

This includes tours of the Neeld and the town hall that will take attendees through rooms that are not normally open to the public.

Among these areas will be the tech booth, backstage, and the mayor’s parlour.

The free tour, which is organised by Chippenham Town Council, will take place at 10am and noon and lasts around 45 minutes, with pre-booking encouraged due to limited capacity.

There will also be tours of the Chippenham Museum between 10.30am and 3.30pm on the same day, which will offer a behind-the-scenes look at how over 40,000 objects are stored and cared for.

Booking is essential for those hoping to take part in these tours.

Locations in the Chippenham area set to welcome residents for special events on Saturday, September 7, include The Maud Heath Centre, Marshfield walking tours, and the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre.

The East Tytherton Moravian Church and Sevington Victorian School will host events on the weekend of September 14, while the REME Museum in Lyneham will offer free entry on September 10.
