The public helped make an arrest in Marlborough High Street, with the man later charged with a number of offences.
The 35-year-old man was arrested on the afternoon of August 31, with Wiltshire Police stating members of the public assisted a lone officer.
The man was later charged with driving without the proper license or valid insurance and obstructing a police constable in execution of their duty.
A police spokesperson said: “We would like to thank the members of the public who assisted the officer, who was single crewed at the time, prior to their colleagues arrival.”
The man will appear at Swindon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, September 18.
