The following cases were heard at magistrates courts in Swindon and Salisbury.

ROYAL WOOTTON BASSETT: On Friday, August 9, Darren Smith, of Withy Close, was sentenced for driving when his licence had been refused or revoked.

The 43-year-old pleaded guilty to driving an Audi on the A3102 in the town, on November 16 last year, eight years after his licence was revoked.

He also pleaded guilty to driving without the correct licence or insurance at Saffron Close on August 8 this year.

Smith was fined £80, ordered to pay £85 in costs, and received six points on his driving record.

TROWBRIDGE: On Friday, August 9, Joshua Whittaker, of Jenkins Street, was sentenced for assault and theft from a shop.

The 31-year-old pleaded guilty to assaulting two people by beating them on May 19, and stealing alcohol to the value of £480 from Morrisons in Warminster on July 11.

He was also slapped with a community order lasting until November 2025.

WARMINSTER: On Friday, August 9, Jonathan Green, of Portway, was sentenced for disclosing personal data without consent.

The 31-year-old pleaded guilty to knowingly or recklessly procuring the disclosure of personal data to another person, breaching the Data Protection Act 2018, in Westbury between January 2021 and April 2022.

He was fined £169 and must pay £85 in costs and a £34 surcharge.

WESTBURY: On Friday, August 9, Marshall-Alan Taylor, of Bremeridge Road, was sentenced for criminal damage.

The 21-year-old pleaded guilty to urinating in a Wiltshire Police custody cell at Melksham on July 25.

He was fined £40 and ordered to pay £50 in compensation, £85 in costs, and a £16 surcharge.

MELKSHAM: On Friday, August 9, James Singleton, of Kingsbury Square, was sentenced for being drunk and disorderly in a public place.

The 42-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence which took place at Trowbridge Railway Station on July 25.

He was fined £40 and ordered to pay £85 in costs.

DEVIZES: On Monday, August 12, Steven Chandler, of Eastleigh Road, was sentenced for making indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of a child.

The 41-year-old pleaded guilty to making six Category C images of a child and three Category B images of a child between March 8, 2014, and August 24, 2022, in Devizes.

He was ordered to complete 120 hours of unpaid work and his mobile phone and hard drive were forfeited and destroyed.

Chandler was also slapped with a community order until August 2025 and must register with the police for five years.

TROWBRIDGE: On Tuesday, August 13, Paul Emmett, of Greenacres in Semington, was sentenced for two counts of theft from a shop and using threatening or abusive words or behaviour.

The 33-year-old pleaded guilty to stealing grocery items worth £93.85 from the Co-op in Melksham on January 28 and clothing worth £138 from The Original Factory Shop in Calne on January 26.

He also admitted using threatening, abusive, or insulting words causing his victim to believe that immediate unlawful violence would be used against them, in Calne on the same date.

Emmett was ordered to pay a total of £481.85 in compensation and was also slapped with a community order lasting until January 2026.

CALNE: On Tuesday, August 13, Philip Stickley, of Chaveywell Court, was sentenced for drink driving.

The 30-year-old pleaded guilty to driving on the A342 at Derry Hill on July 27, while the proportion of alcohol in his breath was 86 ug/100ml - the legal limit is 35.

He was banned from driving for 18 months, to be reduced by 18 weeks on completion of a course, and fined £480.

Stickley must also pay £85 in costs and a £192 surcharge.
