There have been long delays on one of Wiltshire’s busiest roads while roadworks take place in the area.

Long queues of traffic have delayed drivers on the A350 during the morning of Thursday, August 29.

This congestion has impacted the route at Lacock and Reybridge, between Chippenham and Melksham.

At the time of writing, traffic maps indicated that queues were still tailing back towards Beanacre to the south and past Lackham Roundabout to the north.

The AA has reported that these queues have formed in the construction area while Scottish and Southern Power Distribution carry out work nearby.

The utilities firm has installed multi-way traffic lights on Cantax Hill, just off the A350 at Lacock, which have been in place since 8.30am and will remain on site until around 4.30pm.

Mons Lane also remains closed, having been shut on Wednesday, August 28, and is not due to reopen until Friday, August 30.

This is to allow the installation of a new connection and associated works.

An AA spokesperson said: “Queueing traffic on A350 both ways near Reybridge turn off.

“In the construction area. Due to temporary traffic lights today.”
