An TikToker is setting up a cat rescue shelter near Swindon, after finding kittens dumped on his doorstep.

Mark Lambourne is a horse lover from Royal Wootton Bassett who makes a living as the owner of M and N's Equestrian Rugwash and posting animal videos to his 22,000 TikTok followers, but he never expected to be rehoming kittens too.

According to the equestrian, he has always had a couple of feral cats in his yard, but it was only when the cats started having kittens that he began to take them home and rehome them in his free time.

Having built up a reputation for this in Bassett, Mark started to find newborn kittens and cats dumped anonymously in his stables.

It was then that he decided to launch Shelter Paws Cat Rescue.

"It all started with Brian," Mark told the Swindon Advertiser.

"Earlier this year a feral cat who we call Brian kept coming into our house with my own cats for their food.

"We agreed to keep him and people around Royal Wootton Bassett helped us fundraise to get him neutered.

"Since then, we've had a few kittens dumped at our gate.

"I have 20 cats of my own now, and half are born feral in our stables, but this new venture will help us look after and rehome any more cats that come to us."

Mark plans to run the shelter from the large 'cattio' in his yard and is in the process of registering the not-for-profit charity.

But despite his large online following and community support, he never expected his latest venture to take off as it has.

"Within a day of posting about it on our Facebook page we've had people donating stuff," he added.

"We've got two cats, Angel and Fred, ready to be rehomed from a local lady with mental health issues who couldn't look after them.

"We've not got much space at the moment, but the plan is to start off small and build on that.

"We're really taking this seriously and we want to make a proper go of it. The demand is clearly there."

Although Shelter Paws Cat Rescue is still in the process of being set up, the soon-to-be charity is keen to find new homes for the cats and take in donations of food, blankets, toys and more.
