Land at the site of a state-of-the-art Wiltshire health centre has been put on the market for almost £1 million.
The Devizes Health Centre opened off Marshall Road in February 2023 and cost £11 million to build.
Now land to the rear of the integrated care centre and the Devizes Treatment Centre has been put up for sale and could be used to build housing.
Over an acre of flat grassland is being sold by NHS Property Services for £995,000.
Despite the potential sale, the NHS is retaining further grassland immediately to the rear of the centre for future expansion and the healthcare buildings will be unaffected.
Alder King Property Consultants, the firm marketing the site, believes the available space would be suitable for a residential development, although planning permission would need to be granted.

In the listing, a spokesperson said: “The Property is an area of flat grassland suitable for residential development to the rear of the Devizes Treatment Centre and the newly opened NHS Integrated Care Centre.
“The site does not have an allocated planning use, but we consider it to be suitable for a residential based use including domestic dwellings, care home or retirement living subject to obtaining a detailed planning consent.”
The site is accessed off Marshall Road, between the two buildings, and is surrounded by residential homes on three sides.
There have already been “extensive” housing developments constructed in the area and Vistry Group recently received permission to build an additional 163 dwellings on the south side of Marshall Road, at its junction with the A342.
Wiltshire Council has also had plans approved for 33 housing units on land immediately to the west of the health centre.
The purpose-built facility is one of the first integrated care centres in the Wiltshire region and cared for 59,457 patients in its first year.

Dr Richard Sanford-Hill, a GP at Devizes Health Centre, believes the building has built a reputation as a national “trailblazer.”
It offers GP appointments, outpatient clinics, community care and mental health support, blood testing and physiotherapy, all under one roof.
Services previously offered by the Devizes Community Hospital, a disused site now earmarked for housing, were transferred to the new centre.
Patients at the Lansdowne, Market Lavington, St James and Southbroom surgeries can all be referred to the facility’s urgent care service.
