Dash cam footage has shown the moment a Fiat 500 sailed through a red light on one of Wiltshire’s busiest roads.

The driver of the vehicle continued straight on past the red traffic light at the turning for Kington Langley on the A350, just north of Chippenham.

Unfortunately for them, the incident was captured by dash cam footage taken by a police car that had been waiting at the junction.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Roads Policing Units (RPU) can only conclude the driver of the Fiat 500’s mind was elsewhere and not looking at the red light… #noexcuse.”

Officers from RPU have been stepping up their patrols across Wiltshire in recent weeks as they attempt to clamp down on the “fatal five” offences that increase the likelihood of serious crashes.

These include drink or drug driving, speeding, not wearing a seatbelt, using a phone while driving, and careless or dangerous driving.
