The following cases were heard at magistrates courts in Swindon and Salisbury.

WESTWOOD: On Wednesday, July 31, Teixeira Alves, of Tynings Way was sentenced for driving with a revoked licence.

The 49-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Mercedes Sprinter on the M4, on January 25, despite having their licence revoked in December 2022.

Alves also pleaded guilty to driving without insurance and using tyres of insufficient tread.

Alves was fined £400, ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £160 surcharge, and received six driving points.

MELKSHAM: On Wednesday, July 31, Matthew Heaney, of Badminton Road in Bristol, was sentenced for failing to provide a specimen for analysis in Wiltshire.

The 36-year-old pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis at Melksham on July 29.

He also pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and driving without insurance on the A350 at Longbridge Deverill on the same date.

Heaney was slapped with a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, fined £200, and ordered to pay £85 in costs.

MARLBOROUGH, On Thursday, August 1, Harry Barnes, of Trinity Road in Bath, was sentenced for stealing a car and driving it dangerously in Wiltshire.

The 19-year-old pleaded guilty to taking a Vauxhall Vectra from Marlborough, without consent, and driving it dangerously on roads in the town and on Royal Wootton Bassett High Street.

He also pleaded guilty to driving without the necessary licence and insurance.

Barnes was banned from driving for 12 months and must complete an extended test before being allowed back on the roads.

He will also be subject to a community order requiring him to carry out 240 hours of unpaid work.

TROWBRIDGE: On Thursday, August 1, Lauren Giles, of Union Street, was sentenced for two counts of assault, two counts of assaulting an emergency worker, and other offences.

The 29-year-old pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman at Great Western Hospital by kicking her in the chest twice on March 3, and pushing another woman to the face and pulling her hair in Trowbridge on the same date.

Also on March 3, Giles admitted assaulting a police officer and a detention officer by beating them.

Finally, Giles pleaded guilty to using threatening or abusive words or behaviour at Great Western Hospital and obstructing or resisting a constable in the execution of their duty.

She was ordered to pay a total of £250 in compensation to her victims, and will be subject to a community order requiring her to undergo 12 months of mental health treatment.

TROWBRIDGE: On Thursday, August 1, Christopher Mounty, of no fixed abode in Trowbridge, was sentenced for failing to comply with requirements placed on him by the Sex Offenders Register.

The 41-year-old pleaded guilty to failing to notify police of a change of address within three days on May 23.

Mounty was fined £300 and must pay a surcharge of £120.

MELKSHAM: On Thursday, August 1, Matthew Jenkins, of Sunderland Close in Bowerhill, was sentenced for harassment causing fear of violence.

The 33-year-old pleaded guilty to harassing another man in Melksham, between May 25 last year and January 1 this year.

Jenkins caused his victim to fear that violence would be used against him by sending abusive and threatening text messages to him, driving a van at him, which caused him to swerve in order to avoid being hit, and parking his van outside the victim’s house.

He was given a 16-week prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, because he committed “an unprovoked attack of a serious nature”.

Jenkins must also undergo six months of alcohol treatment and pay £85 in costs.
