A Wiltshire shopping centre’s Tesco superstore is due to close for the final time this week.
In June it was confirmed that Tesco would permanently close the doors of its branch in Emery Gate Shopping Centre, Chippenham, on Thursday, August 15.
This news came after the announcement that the retail giant would be downsizing its presence in the town centre by closing the shop and replacing it with a High Street Express store.
Now, with the closure date looming, preparations to open this new High Street unit, in the former Wilko building, are ramping up.

Over the summer the previously empty unit has been fitted out as a Tesco Express both internally and externally, and in recent weeks has been filled with stock ahead of opening.
Since July, signs in the shopfront have advertised to customers that the branch will be opening on Friday, August 16, the day after the superstore closure.
When Tesco revealed the relocation in January, a spokesperson added: “We have taken the difficult decision to close our Chippenham Superstore.
“We have however secured a new smaller premises in Chippenham town centre which we will open as Tesco Chippenham High Street Express, and we look forward to continuing to serve our customers at our local stores.”
