A Wiltshire town centre pub has reopened under new management with a “fresh vibe” following refurbishment.

The Brunel pub, on New Road in Chippenham, reopened on Friday, August 2, after a month of renovations.

In June the previous management team left the venue and shortly after a deal was agreed for Lorna Noble, who runs the nearby Black Horse and The Pig and Whistle in Melksham, to take over.

The former Stonegate pub is now part of Noble Pub Group Ltd.

Ms Noble is working alongside new manager Diane Rees, and the pair have given the pub a fresh look.

They hope this revamp will bring “new life” to the prominent venue.

Ms Rees said: “We’ve got a fresh vibe that we’re bringing to Chippenham, it’s something new and the energy has been amazing.

“It’s bringing in a diverse range of people already which is good and there’s a really nice feel to the place again.

“We’ve worked extremely hard to get it up and running again, it’s important to keep this beautiful building alive and involve the community in many different ways.”

The pub was packed with customers during a reopening weekend that saw an array of live music.

Ms Rees said: “We had a lot of people coming through the door, a lot of new faces and a lot of old faces.”

“It was a really good weekend and a great atmosphere”, added Ms Noble.

“We had a live band and DJs and have got a lot of events planned as well.”

The ongoing changes include the opening of the pub’s new cocktail bar on the weekend of Saturday, August 10, a drum and bass event featuring Nicky Blackmarket on September 6, and the addition of a photo booth.

The Brunel will continue to show sport, alongside live music, and there are plans for darts and pool leagues at the pub.

A new food menu will also launch in the coming weeks, offering classic pub food to a “high standard.”

Ms Rees emphasised the importance of putting the pub at the centre of the community.

She added: “We’re getting lots of entertainment, bringing the community in, and getting a diverse range of people.

“I think that’s very important because the pub trade has died down a bit in many areas, but we want to bring something that is available for everyone.

“We just want everyone to enjoy themselves and have a great time, it’s not just a pub but somewhere where people can socialise and do their hobbies.”
