A long-derelict Wiltshire pub is back on the market after a deal to sell it to new owners fell through.

The former Royal Oak Inn building, on New Park Street in Devizes, has been relisted on Rightmove for a guide price of £340,000 by estate agent Allen & Harris.

The prominent Grade II listed building, which was more recently used as an antiques store and has been earmarked for housing, had previously been marketed late last year.

A buyer for the property looked to have been found when signs were posted in the window advertising that it had been “sold”.

But an Allen & Harris spokesperson confirmed that this deal “fell through” and the building is once again available to buy.

The former Fullers pub closed around a decade ago and planning permission has since been obtained to convert it into residential apartments.

Initial work to carry out this redevelopment has already started internally, and the planning consent remains valid despite being granted in 2020.

Much of the internal strip-out was completed under the ownership of applicant David Webb, of Webb Construction in Oxfordshire.

Following concerns raised by the Trust for Devizes about the condition of the building, Wiltshire Council confirmed it was monitoring any further developments at the property.
