Builders at a new housing development have recruited some of Wiltshire's littlest designers to join the team.
Year One pupils from Fynamore Primary School in Calne were thrilled to be tasked with designing children's bedrooms that would be brought to life at Bewley Homes' newest development showhome.
The Alexandra Gate development is being built on Chilvester Hill, near the junction between the A4 and the A3102 on the edge of Calne, and will consist of 28 two, three, four and five-bedroom homes.
Its name was chosen to subtly honour the late Queen Elizabeth II's life and service as her middle name was Alexandra.
“We had an excellent response with over 35 entries," said Katy Boutureira from PJB Interiors, the interior design company working on the new development.
"It was very hard to pick a winner so in the end we selected three.
"The paintings have inspired the designs in one of the children’s bedrooms which Bewley will unveil when the show home opens.”
The three pupils selected as the official 'children's bedroom designers' of the show home have been awarded several prizes, including a family ticket to the Bristol Zoo Project for the overall winner.
According to Bewley Homes, the company has been keen to involve the local community as much as possible in their latest development, and partnering with Fynamore Primary School provided an opportunity to showcase the creativity of Calne's children.
"The children really enjoyed this exciting design competition. It's been a lovely opportunity for the pupils to unleash their creativity," said Mrs Jackie Zenonos, deputy head teacher at Fynamore Primary School.
Elaine Stratford, sales and marketing director at Bewley Homes, added: “Their designs will add a magical touch to our showhome when we open for prospective buyers to view.
"We're grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with the school and look forward to inviting the pupils back to view the bedroom they have helped design.”
