A woman who allegedly fled the scene has been arrested after a car crashed into a town centre betting shop.

Police cordoned off part of Warminster's town centre on Thursday, July 25 after the crash occurred at the junction of the B3414 Market Place and Weymouth Street.

Fire engines and police officers remained at the scene near William Hill from around 6.30pm.

A 47-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs, and dangerous driving.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: "We are aware that the incident in town has caused a lot of concern.

"We would like to assure you that the driver has been arrested for a number of traffic offences.

"Thank you to all of the members of public that stopped to support the victims and the amazing person that followed the suspect and provided live updates to police.

"Fire, highways, council, SWAST, the public and ER CCTV were instrumental in making sure that this incident was dealt with as swiftly and as safely as possible."
