Merrylands by name, but is this house on the market for more than £1 million merry by nature?

The estate agent, Strakers, would argue so according to its description of the “stunning six-bedroom detached chalet-style bungalow”.

It is located in the small village of Woodborough, in the Vale of Pewsey, part of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The standout feature of the house is a blue outdoor pool, visible in aerial photos.(Image: Strakers)

The agent says: “Enjoy the luxury of an outdoor pool area, perfect for entertaining and relaxation.”

If you prefer a more wild swimming experience, there is also a pond in the “beautifully landscaped gardens mostly laid to lawn, featuring a vegetable patch and an array of established trees and shrubs.”

The pool is reached by bi-fold doors from a glass atrium and dining area, before which is a blue fully fitted kitchen with modern appliances and a breakfast room.(Image: Strakers)

As well as the pool, the house is a great place to stay active. It overlooks Woodborough Hill which features various footpaths to explore on its wooded surface.

One of the bedrooms is pictured with an indoor bike. Not only is this a place for pool parties and being active, it is a place to get back to nature, among nature, with a vegetable patch.

Pictures show various greens growing, including lettuce and a greenhouse for tomato ready for fresh outdoor lunches. These could be had at the outdoor seating picnic bench pictured, or among a paddock full of wildflowers.(Image: Strakers)

The agent writes of the 4789 sq ft property: “Merrylands combines luxury, functionality, and flexibility, making it a perfect home for families looking for a serene lifestyle with modern amenities.

“The property's spacious layout and beautiful surroundings offer a unique opportunity to experience the best of Woodborough living.”

But what is “Woodborough living”? The agent explains: “Woodborough is very sought after, situated in the famous Pewsey vale surrounded by rolling downland and with many footpaths and bridleways for walking and horse riding. (Image: Strakers)

“The village itself has a very well regarded junior school, a church and a garden centre featuring a cafe whilst in the neighbouring village of Bottlesford there is a lovely country pub.”

And if you get tired of Woodborough living, Pewsey and the market towns of Devizes and Marlborough are also a short drive away, and Swindon is 30 minutes to the north.
