A Wiltshire primary school has been praised for being “welcoming and inclusive” in its latest Ofsted report.
Lea and Garsdon Church of England Primary School, in Lea, was visited by Ofsted inspectors during a two-day inspection in June and has since been handed a “Good” rating.
The primary school, which was recently recognised in the top one per cent of the country for its outdoor play programme, was evaluated in several areas.
The behaviour and personal development of its pupils were found to be “outstanding”, while the school’s leadership and early years provision were described as “good.”

Inspectors said the school’s curriculum was “ambitious and structured”, and suggested pupils should be given more opportunities to learn “complex concepts” to improve their knowledge and understanding.
Headteacher Sian Alderson said she and her staff were “absolutely thrilled” that the “dedication and commitment” of those involved in running the school had been recognised in the report.
She said: “We knew our school had improved beyond measure, and we were delighted that this was reflected in the report.”
“We are such a strong community, and we are very proud of what we offer our children, here in our wonderful village school.”
The school will be holding its next open day on Tuesday, September 17, from 10am until 1pm.
