Wiltshire is set to see temperatures rise almost as high as 30C this week, despite heavy rainfall during the first half of the month.

The ancient tradition of St Swithin’s Day (July 15) has recently seen a revival after featuring prominently in the Netflix series 'One Day'. It states that if it rains on St Swithin's Day, it'll rain for the rest of the summer.

This prediction has been particularly concerning this year as July 15, like much of the first half of July, was a wet and windy one for Wiltshire with higher-than-average rainfall.

But locals need not be alarmed, as the Met Office predicts sunnier skies are on their way - with temperatures reaching as high as 29C.

"There's a brief hot spell to come across South Eastern areas to end the week and today is going to be a considerably drier and warmer day across much of the UK," said Met Office Meteorologist Annie Shuttleworth.

"Heat will start to build through this afternoon, quite a difference from the beginning of this week."

For all areas of Wiltshire from Swindon to Trowbridge, temperatures are set to reach their height of 29C on Friday at approximately 4pm.
