A pensioner suffered a head injury after reportedly being hit by a bus in a Wiltshire town centre.

Emergency services were called to Devizes Market Place at around 4.30pm on Tuesday, July 9, after a crash involving a bus and a woman in her 80s.

Police say the woman sustained a head injury during the incident, and the busy road was blocked while officers and ambulance crews worked at the scene.

One eyewitness at the scene said that as many as six police cars were in attendance while paramedics were seen treating the injured woman.

The road was cleared by around 5.30pm, after around an hour of congestion and delays in the area.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We attended a collision in the Market Place, Devizes, at approximately 4.30pm on Tuesday.

“A woman in her 80s was hit by a bus and is believed to have sustained a head injury.

“The road was cleared by 5.50pm.”
