Three people have appeared in court charged in connection with a man's alleged murder near Devizes following a suspected stabbing.
Officers were first called to Strawberry Fields shortly after 8pm on Tuesday, July 2 following reports that a man had been stabbed.
The man died at the scene and his identity is believed to be Raymond Groves, 48, from Hartcliffe, Bristol although formal identification has yet to be carried out.
Anthony Hodges-Hillier, 33, of Brooklands, Royal Wootton Bassett is accused of murder and conspiracy to commit the murder.
Letishia Goodwin, 29, of Strawberry Fields, Easterton is accused of conspiracy to commit murder.
They appeared in Swindon Magistrates' Court on Monday, July 8.
A third suspect, Helen Shakespeare, of Strawberry Fields, Easterton, already appeared on Saturday, July 6 at the same court charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
Kate Prince, prosecuting, told the court: “The crown’s case is that she stabbed her ex-partner at her home address which resulted in his death."
They were all told that their alleged offences were too serious to be tried in the magistrates court, and so were sent to a higher court.
All three were remanded back into custody and were scheduled to appear at Winchester Crown Court on Tuesday, July 9.
In Swindon, none of the defendants entered a plea and the Gazette and Herald has contacted the crown court for an update on their latest court appearances.
Following the incident, a Wiltshire Police spokesperson confirmed: “Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the victim, aged in his 40s, died at the scene.
“A woman in her 50s was swiftly arrested on suspicion of murder and was taken to Melksham custody for questioning.
“We would like to reassure the public that the suspect and victim are believed to be known to each other and there is no wider risk to the public.”
As of Sunday, July 7, a scene remained in place in Strawberry Fields while specialist officers continued to carry out their investigation.
At the time of the stabbing, Detective Inspector Deb Hatch said: “I’d like to send my condolences to the family and friends of the man involved," said
"Our investigation remains ongoing.”
The incident near Devizes came less than a week after another alleged stabbing in the town centre, which is not believed to be connected.
