Police have issued an update on their investigation into a fatal stabbing in the Devizes area.
Officers responded to calls from an an address in Strawberry Fields, Easterton, which reported that a man had been stabbed just after 8pm on Tuesday, July 2.
Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the victim, aged in his 40s, died at the scene.
Officers swiftly arrested a woman in her 50s on suspicion of murder and took her into custody at Melksham for questioning.
On Thursday afternoon, Wiltshire Police confirmed that a request to the court asking for a further 36 hours to question the suspect has been approved.
A spokesperson said: "A cordon remains in place at the property while we continue with our enquiries.
"We would like to reassure the public that the suspect and victim are believed to be known to each other and there is no wider risk to the public.
"Anyone who has any information on the incident is asked to contact us by calling 101 quoting log 291 of July 2."
