A village music festival has supported a homeless charity with a donation of £8,000.
Biddstock, the music festival of Biddestone, has announced its support for Doorway in 2024 after making the donation from the proceeds of the 2022 festival.
Over the course of the previous four festivals, Biddstock has managed to raise more than £27,000 for good causes.
Matt Powell, co-founder of Biddstock, said: "We are delighted to announce Doorway as our lead charity in 2024, we’ll be supporting other local good causes to the Biddestone area as well.
"We’re aiming for it to be our biggest Biddstock yet, tickets are selling fast and we still have some limited ones left on www.biddstock.co.uk.
"Our line up includes three live bands, with three bars, two street food concessions, beer pong and more."
He added: “It is 18 plus only from 6pm to midnight and tickets are £35 plus booking fees.
"We have three fantastic bands playing, an acoustic set from the Shadow Monkeys, some 90’s and modern classics from Mister Kanish and then our lead act is the Richard Reeves band, returning to headline after a fantastic headline performance in 2022.”
Jo Kitching, CEO of Doorway, said: "The money that Biddstock raised for us two years ago has gone towards adding to our services.
"In 2022 we had three open access drop ins in a week, this year we’re open every day thanks to Biddstock’s contribution."
She continued: "An example of one family we have helped was a grandmother who arrived in Chippenham living with her grandson in her car.
"They were escaping domestic abuse in a different part of the country. The police referred them to us, it took us a few months to get to know them and for them to trust us but in the end we managed to persuade them to take the offer of accommodation so they are now living together in a flat nearby so that is a really good news story for us."
She added: "We are delighted Biddstock is supporting us again in 2024.
"Depending on how much is raised we are looking to extend our offering to the local villages with the funds, where we know there are more people who need our help."
In addition to Doorway, Biddstock has aided Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Biddestone Cricket Club, St Nicholas SEN School, the Honeycombe magazine, and the Biddestone Broadsheet.
