Crofton Beam Engines will be celebrating youngsters this weekend (June 29 to June 30) by premiering four videos made by children from primary schools about all there is to see and do at the site.
Children from St Katharine’s C of E Primary School, Great Bedwyn C of E School, Burbage Primary School and Easton Royal Academy have partnered with Crofton on the ‘Crofton for Kids’ grant project, which has funded the production of forty sets of buildable working models of the beam engine.
The site in Marlborough, which has been pumping water for over 200 years, will be open and steaming on Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30 between 10am and 4:30pm and the film viewings are scheduled for 11am, 1pm and 3pm.
Whitney Cawley, learning and community engagement officer, said: “The children’s enthusiasm and ownership in this project has been fantastic. Each school’s topic video is unique, explaining Crofton to kids by kids. We would love to see everyone there at the weekend to celebrate their amazing work.”
This weekend guests can also enjoy a children’s trail and a duck race on both days, where ducks rush into the stream from the pumps and pass under the bridge and the winner will receive a prize.
