One of Wiltshire’s busiest A-roads will shut for several nights next month to allow roadworks to be completed.
The A350 has been subject to several rounds of roadworks and restrictions, between the Lackham and Chequers Roundabouts south of Chippenham, over the last two years.
For a lengthy period, traffic management was in place on the route to allow work associated with Southpoint Business Park to be carried out.
This involved the construction of an additional roundabout to serve the business park, which could become the home of a £100 million Siemens factory if plans are approved.
This stretch of the A350 is set to shut again in July while outstanding tarmacking relating to the business park is completed by contractors Tercon.
The key route will close to drivers between 7pm and 6am for four nights, starting on July 22.
During this time, the council warned that there may be some delays in the area.
By this point, the B-roads through Patterdown and Showell should have reopened following over six months of closure, offering drivers an alternative route linking the A350 and the A4.
In the closure order, a Wiltshire Council spokesperson said: “It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions.”
