The paused transformation of an old village pub could be completed after Wiltshire Council has approved adjustments to a planning application to transform it into three homes.

Although the conversion of The Bell Inn in Seend was initially planned for a single home, this was amended when the council approved it becoming three in 2021.

Work on the site has since commenced and one of the new homes has been sold off already.

The conversion has stalled, but this most recent application could be a sign that the project is set to be completed.

The applicant sought permission for a change to the approved parking layout, as well as the boundary between two of the houses and some internal adjustments.

Wiltshire Council has now given the go-ahead for these changes.

The case officer report stated: “Overall, the scheme offers the chance to refurbish and safeguard the existing heritage and buildings on site, supporting their longevity and ensuring that the heritage is maintained.

“The scheme will provide additional residential accommodation within the village of Seend which supports the policies for sustainable development within this area.”

The Bell Inn has been permanently closed for over five years after it was deemed no longer viable as a pub.
