Police allegedly discovered cannabis plants after storming a canal boat in Wiltshire.

Officers executed a warrant on a canal boat, on the Kennet and Avon near The Wharf car park in Devizes, on June 13, and reportedly discovered three cannabis plants.

These plants were seized and one man, in his 50s, was arrested on suspicion of growing cannabis.

He has since been given a conditional warning and ordered to attend a drug awareness course.

Sgt Chris Wickham revealed the warrant was carried out following intelligence provided by a member of the public.

A spokesperson for the force said: “A man in his 50s was interviewed under caution for drug offences following a warrant on a canal boat near Wharf car park, Devizes.

“Police searched the boat and seized three cannabis plants on June 13.

“The man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating and producing cannabis and was given a conditional caution with a drugs awareness course to attend.”
