A suspected drink driver has been caught after intervention from a 'selfless' member of the public.

The suspect is believed to have been involved in a crash in Marlborough on Monday before fleeing the scene and heading onto the M4.

Officers received reports at around 10.45pm that night of both the crash and a suspected drunk driver on the motorway.

A spokesperson for the police said: "The vehicle was seen driving erratically into Leigh Delamere services and two men were seen getting out of the vehicle.

"When they returned to the vehicle, a member of the public engaged with them and took the car keys to prevent them driving off.

"When officers attended, the suspected driver, a man in his 30s from Worcestershire, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after blowing twice the legal limit."

He was also arrested on suspicion of driving while uninsured.

He was taken into custody for questioning.
