Excitement is building in a small Wiltshire village as word spreads of a new ‘wine bar’ opening 'soon'.

4 Market Place in Pewsey was the previous site of Thomsons Deli, which was opened by the Thomson family in 2010 and proudly served the village for four years.

Now a recent rise in new businesses in Pewsey brings the promise of a village wine bar at the site.

Alfred’s Wine Bar on Market Place will serve alcohol to the community from 11am to 11pm Wednesday to Sunday, and although no official opening date has been announced as of yet, a recent premises licence application makes it clear that change is coming.

The business will be run by Tina Thomson, who will be no stranger to locals, having worked at Thomsons in the same spot many years ago.

“I'm hoping to get everything in place by the end of the month or early next month,” Tina told the Gazette and Herald.

Despite very little information being publicly available at this stage, Pewsey locals are already jumping for joy at the news.

“It’s the most exciting thing to hit Pewsey since the railway came,” said one resident.

“Just what the village needs,” another added.

The news comes just one month after it was announced that Time Restored on the High Street will also be transforming into a new bistro.
