A newly opened farm shop not far from Swindon is preparing to host its first-ever car boot sale.

Sustain Farm Shop, located at Freckles Farm in Royal Wootton Bassett, is all about sustainability and since opening in March 2024, manager Will Crapper has been working on ways to become as sustainable as possible.

The farm shop already uses locally sourced produce to eliminate the air miles on their food, but now staff hope that their brand new car boot sale will encourage locals to reuse and recycle their old clothes and household items.

"We are thrilled to announce the launch of our very first Sustain Farm Shop Car Boot Sale," said a spokesperson for the farm shop.

"Mark your calendars for Sunday, June 23, and get ready to be part of an exciting community event that promotes sustainability.

"Whether you're there to buy or sell, it's the perfect way to spend your Sunday."

The new car boot sale will kick off at 8am on June 23, although sellers are encouraged to arrive at 7.30am to have time to set up.

The event is free for buyers to attend, and sellers will be charged £8 per for car entry, or £10 for vans and trailers.

But unlike most car boot sales, visitors to this sale will be able to finish off the morning at Sustain Wiltshire's first farm shop and cafe, with the guarantee of a low carbon footprint.

"We hope our Farm Shop will be Wiltshire's premier destination for locally sourced produce," manager Will told the Adver at the shop's opening event.

"As well as offering a variety of local produce in our shop, our location is also home to our cafe which we hope will be a community hub for people to meet with friends or just grab coffee and get on with some work using our free super fast wifi.

"You can find us along the B4042 towards Brinkworth, take the first turning under the motorway bridge (B4696) then we are the first turning on your left - you should see the sign."

The site offers disabled parking and wheelchair access is available.

No pre-booking is required for either buyers or sellers at this event, but staff from Sustain Farm Shop say they hope this could be the first car boot sale of many, and booking may be necessary in the future if the event proves to be popular.
