A Wiltshire town’s second annual Pride event will kick off this month amidst hopes it will be even bigger than last year.
Devizes Pride will take place at Hillworth Park on June 29 this year, after the inaugural event in 2023 drew crowds of around 300 hundred people.
The day has been planned to be “friendly and welcoming for everyone” with people encouraged to attend whether they are with their families, friends, or on their own.
The free festivities will be kicked off at 10am by a live broadcast from Fantasy Radio before entertainment provide by international drag queen Miss Lucy Luscious Lips, with the day being capped off by pop hits until 5pm.
There will also be a range of food, drink, and craft stalls throughout the day.
Organiser Oberon Christmas, who will be helped by other volunteers on the day, was inspired to establish a Pride event for the town to offer a welcoming environment for others.
He said: “The driving force is that, when I was growing up, I never had anything like this and it would have helped.
“Now I’m an adult I wanted to help others… there are other Prides like Chippenham that had thousands of people and I’d like it to be on that scale in the future, but we’re not there yet.”
