A prolific shoplifter from Devizes has been jailed for just over six months after pleading guilty to multiple offences carried out earlier this year.
Marcus Pocock, 49, of no fixed address appeared at Salisbury Magistrates' Court on Monday, June 3 and was jailed for 26 weeks.
The offences included stealing items from Holland and Barrett on February 18, stealing alcohol from Sainsbury's on March 21 and stealing toilet rolls and alcohol on March 22.
On April 4 he trespassed at The Lamb Inn with intent to steal, but later stole another seven bottles of alcohol from Sainsbury's.
PC Sarah Hardwidge said: “Pocock is a prolific offender who has brought misery to local businesses so we welcome this custodial sentence.
“We have worked closely with Devizes Shop Watch and Pub Watch, who have been extremely proactive in reporting Pocock’s offending to us. We'd like to thank them, as without the support of our community and partnership working, we wouldn't have been able to put him before the courts for a significant number of incidents.”
