The following cases were heard at magistrates courts in Swindon and Salisbury.

CHIPPENHAM: On Friday, May 24, James Baker, of Centurion Close, was sentenced for two counts of damaging property under the value of £5,000.

The 24-year-old was found guilty of criminal damage to a car boot on July 8 last year and a phone on July 31 last year.

He was ordered to pay £300 compensation and a £692 fine.

DEVIZES: On Friday, May 24, Michael Magee of Bournemouth was sentenced for possessing Class A and B drugs in Devizes.

The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis and cocaine on October 22 last year.

He was jailed for one week and the drugs were forfeited and destroyed.

CHIPPENHAM: On Friday, May 24, James Owen, of no fixed abode in Chippenham, was sentenced for possessing Class A and B drugs in Devizes.

The 27-year-old pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis and cocaine on October 22 last year.

He was jailed for one week and the drugs were forfeited and destroyed.

WARMINSTER: On Saturday, May 25, Franny Joyce, of Rose Meadow View in Bristol, was sentenced for a theft from a shop in Warminster.

The 43-year-old pleaded guilty to jointly stealing £210 of clothing and bedding from Sports Direct on Thursday, May 23.

She was fined £140 and ordered to pay a £40 surcharge.

DEVIZES: On Monday, May 27, Thomas Brailey, of Bridewell Street, was sentenced for a theft from a shop.

The 27-year-old pleaded guilty to stealing £50.19 worth of meat from M&S in Devizes the previous day.

He was ordered to pay £25.10 in compensation.

STAVERTON: On Monday, May 27, Nicholas Gadd, of Swan Drive, was sentenced for two counts of theft from a shop.

The 48-year-old pleaded guilty to stealing £204.50 worth of items from Sainsbury’s in Trowbridge on March 20 and £178.34 worth of products from a Trowbridge Co-op on April 28.

He was ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work and pay £192 in compensation.

CHIPPENHAM: On Monday, Tuesday, May 28, Fay Glover, of Field View, was sentenced for three offences.

The 37-year-old pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to police or court bail at the appointed time while on bail and failing to answer to the court or police bail as soon as practicable.

She has previously pleaded guilty to a racially or religiously aggravated assault in Devizes on August 7 last year.

Glover was ordered to comply with any instructions of the responsible officer to attend appointments and pay compensation of £100.

ROYAL WOOTTON BASSETT: On Tuesday, May 28, Kate Chapman, of Downs View, was sentenced for two offences.

The 56-year-old pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage to a £14.50 Wiltshire Police Code of Practice book while in custody on October 24, 2023.

She also pleaded guilty to persistently making use of a public electronic communications network in a racially aggravated manner for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety to another between September 16 and October 25, 2023.

Chapman was ordered to pay £14.50 in compensation along with a £200 fine, £85 in court costs, and £80 for victim services.

MELKSHAM: On Tuesday, May 28, a 15-year-old, whose identity is protected by law, was sentenced for arson and theft from a shop.

The teenager was convicted of committing arson in an incident at public toilets belonging to Melksham Town Council on January 7.

The teenager also pleaded guilty to stealing two necklaces belonging to Jacey Jewels at Emery Gate in Chippenham, on December 22 last year.

A youth rehabilitation order has been put in place involving intensive supervision until May 27, 2025.

The youth has also been given a curfew that will be monitored using an electronic tag.
