A power cut affecting a large area near Marlborough has left homes without electricity for hours.

Several households in Burbage including High Street businesses have had no power since 9.32am on Friday, May 31, after an unexpected power cut occurred in the area.

Five postcodes have been affected in the SN6 area, and 16 properties have been left completely powerless, with electricity in the area not expected to return until just after 4.30pm on Friday afternoon.

As well as the north end of Burbage, Durley and Ram Alley have also been hit by the power outage, according to a map provided by Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks.

All High Street businesses north of Guy & Max Jewellery store appear to have been affected, including Manor Farm Bed and Breakfast and Vale Systems computer shop.

A spokesperson from SSEN said: “We’re sorry for the power cut and are aware of a fault on our local network affecting several homes.

"It is common to see one in three homes affected in the area."
