A key A-road in Wiltshire is scheduled to close to drivers for three nights while roadworks are completed.

The A350 is due to shut for three nights at Lacock, between Melksham Road and the junction of Mons Lane and Cantax Hill, according to Wiltshire Council’s roadworks map.

This closure is due to be in place from Wednesday, June 5, until Saturday, June 8.

The listing warns that the road will be shut between 7pm and 7am during this period and that delays are likely as a result of the work.

During this time, the council’s contractors will be carrying out carriageway retexturing and other associated maintenance works.

The council’s official diversion route advises drivers to take an alternative journey that is 36km long and will take an estimated 40 minutes.

This would see motorists diverted via the A365, and the A4, before rejoining the A350 at Chequers Roundabout.

The closure will add to other roadworks that have been ongoing in the Chippenham area in recent days.

On Thursday, May 30, traffic management was in place on the A4 approaching Chequers Roundabout from the Corsham direction.

The B-roads through Showell and Patterdown also remain closed, after shutting to drivers in January.

The council had listed the closure as being in force all the time during the stated period but has now clarified this is not the case.
