A market run by volunteers in Trowbridge is trying to attract more people to visit the town centre this summer.

Trowbridge Weavers Market takes place on the second Saturday of the month, running from April to December, based across Fore Street, Castle Street, Market Street and Church Street.

It gives local artisan and craft traders the chance to promote their business and handmade products and offers local people the opportunity to support independent businesses and enjoy live music and street food.

Event organiser Stewart Palmen said: “The market is designed for independent traders in a 30-mile radius of Trowbridge and the idea is to get more people to come into the town centre.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Trowbridge Weavers Market runs from April to December

"It’s curated locally and volunteers help set up 30 stalls over four streets and we have found that it doubles the footfall in town.

“We are trying to do something different every weekend to improve business and get more people into the town. Our aim is to expand to up to 50 stalls and November and December are very busy times with Christmas, so we are hoping to have more stalls by then.”

The market runs from 10am to 3pm and the next event is on Saturday, June 8.
