Wiltshire residents and bus enthusiasts visited Marlborough for the chance to take a ride on buses from the past.
The Wilts & Dorset Bus Running Day, also known as ‘Exercise in Oddity’, is in its ninth year of celebrating Wiltshire’s most loved and lost buses and bus routes.
The day, on Sunday, May 12, offered visitors the chance to ride on some of the classic buses of a bygone era travelling the old route 6 between Marlborough and Amesbury, as well as route 479 (nicknamed the Rocky Rambler) up to the Hackpen White Horse.
“It was so exciting to transport visitors back to a past world where Wilts & Dorset vehicles climbed up out of the Kennett valley heading for Pewsey Vale and onwards down one of England’s many Avon Valleys,” said a spokesperson for the event.

Mark Borissoff, a Pewsey bus driver for the Salisbury Reds, is just one of the many bus lovers who hopped on board.
“I first started my career with Wilts and Dorset buses in October 2001,” he told the Gazette and Herald.
He continued: “The whole thing brought back some wonderful memories of when I first started driving with Wilts and Dorset.
“Myself and my partner and friends went on four different buses from Pewsey to Marlborough and then on to Avebury. It’s just a wonderful day travelling on the classic buses."
