A man who was found ‘slumped’ over a vehicle steering wheel has been charged with drink driving and given a court date.
Luke Bessell, 24, of no fixed address from the Corsham area, was reported by a member of the public as ‘slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle’ in the Lypiatt Road area.
Wiltshire Police arrived and carried out a breath test which Bessell failed. He was arrested on May 2.
He has been charged with being in charge of a motor vehicle whilst over the drink drive limit and is due to appear at Salisbury Magistrates' Court on May 21.
What is the drink drive alcohol limit in England?
In England, Wales and Northern Ireland you are not allowed to drive with more than 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath.
Alcohol affects everyone differently meaning that there is no hard and fast rule for the number of drinks you can safely have before driving.
Police advice states that the only safe option is to avoid alcohol completely if you’re driving as even ‘just one drink’ could put you over the limit.
