A major roadworks project is scheduled to start on a key Wiltshire A-road next week, with delays likely.
Wiltshire Council has made an order for a temporary 40mph speed limit to come into operation on a large stretch of the A350 at Chippenham from Monday, May 6, until November 1, 2025.
The order, which was first announced earlier this year, will allow the council’s contractors to transform the remaining sections of the road into a dual carriageway.
Work will be carried out between Lackham and Chequers Roundabout and Bumpers Farm and Cepen Park South Roundabout.

A 40mph speed limit will be in place along this stretch, as well as on the A420 approaching Bumpers Farm.
Narrow lanes will be implemented on the A350 to allow new carriageway construction.
The final phases of the project on the route began with preliminary works in January and are scheduled to ramp up from Monday, May 6, according to the council’s roadworks map.
The council previously warned the work would cause disruption but will benefit drivers in the long term.
In March, Cllr Nick Holder, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these works, but this final phase of the Chippenham A350 dualling scheme will reduce journey times and congestion on this key Wiltshire road.”
