The landlord of a Wiltshire pub has insisted “nothing is set in stone” amidst plans to turn the venue into an Italian restaurant.
Negotiations are ongoing over the future of The Red Bull Inn, a prominent pub on Bristol Road near Malmesbury.
Last month management announced they planned to sell the lease to new owners.
These potential new occupants reportedly plan to convert the pub into an Italian restaurant, and a sign advertising the new venue has been placed outside the property.
But David, the current landlord, told this paper the deal hasn’t been finalised.
He said: “It’s currently with solicitors, it’s all dependent on that so there is nothing set in stone at the moment.
“There’s nothing signed so it could potentially remain a pub.”
In the meantime, the pub remains open for reduced hours.
Last month a spokesperson for the pub said: “As many of you know the lease for the Bull has been up for sale for some time now.
“Today we can announce the exciting news that soon work will commence to turn the pub into an Italian restaurant.
“There isn’t an exact date of when this will happen and in the meantime, the pub will still be open for Sunday lunch and functions.
“We will keep you updated with further information when we have it.”
