Family photos dating back to the 1930s have revealed a glimpse at the rich history behind the Crown Hotel, which is set to reopen.
The Crown Hotel, located on Royal Wootton Bassett's High Street, announced in early April that it is set to reopen soon after being put up for let in 2023.
The establishment, which is owned by Stonegate Group, has yet to confirm an official opening date, but the pub is being welcomed back into the community with open arms.
“Played there back in the day with the mid-life crisis boys, great times," said one punter on social media.
“Shenanigans at its best! Good news it's coming back."
But local resident Perri Blackmore has more connections to the High Street pub than most do.
Perri's grandmother Phyllis Hart used to live in the Crown Hotel and his family photo album is bursting with images documenting the pub's history.
Phyllis lived there with her parents William and Jane Hart, as well as Fred, Ivor and Bob Hart, until she got married in 1932.
"My grandmother Phyllis Hart later married Joseph Cannon," Perri told the Adver.
The Crown Hotel sits in a Grade-II listed building that was originally an 18th-century coaching inn.
The photos show previous landlords photographed by the front door and around the back as well as rare images of the building before it was repainted.
