Construction has started on a new garden village development consisting of nearly 30 homes in Wiltshire.
On March 4 developers Bewley Homes held a “ground-breaking ceremony” to mark the start of the building phase of their Alexandra Gate project, at Chilvester Hill, on the edge of Calne.
The new development, located near the junction between the A4 and the A3102, will consist of 28 new two, three, four and five-bedroom homes.
Eight affordable homes will be available for rent or shared ownership.
The properties are expected to launch in mid-2024 and will range from £475,000 to £800,000.
Liam Rothwell and Ella Goodman, pupils at Fynamore Primary School were invited to take part in the ground-breaking ceremony with headteacher Jackie Zenonos and site manager Jim Bettles.
Mr Bettles said: “We are very excited about the start of construction at our new site in Calne.
“It was lovely to share this moment with Liam and Ella and hear their genuine interest in housebuilding.
“We look forward to inviting them back when we launch the show home at the end of the summer.
Stuart Locke, sales manager at Bewley Homes, added: “Alexandra Gate is in a fantastic position with amazing views and we are looking forward to launching our show home at the end of the summer.”
