The Royal Family have decided on the future of Prince George’s education after months of toying between two prestigious colleges, a source has claimed.
William and Kate, the Prince and Princess of Wales, are among the thousands of parents making that difficult decision about where to send their children to school.
But while most are choosing between one local secondary school and the other, for the future King and Queen the decision is said to have been between two of the most expensive boarding schools in the county.
In June, William and Kate were spotted with Prince George visiting Eton College in Berkshire.
The famous all-boys school was previously attended by Prince William and Harry, along with Hollywood stars including Tom Hiddleston, Eddie Redmayne and Bear Grylls just to name a few.
But in October, it was reported Kate was an hour away touring Marlborough College in Wiltshire, where she herself attended as a teen.
Although students don’t attend either institution until they are teenagers, enrolment is determined from as young as age 10.
Speaking to Life&Style Mag, a royal source revealed: “After years of discussion and heated debate between William, Kate and King Charles III, the family have made a choice.
“While the royal family expected that George would follow in William’s footsteps, Kate got the final say: They’ll both be students at Marlborough.
“This way, George and Charlotte will have a few years where they’ll overlap at the same school.
“Kate has fond memories of her time there and feels it’s a better fit for her children.”
It is assumed that Prince Louis would later follow in his sibling's footsteps and attend Marlborough College.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte would not be the first royals to attend Marlborough College.
Not only did Kate herself attend the school, along with her sister Pippa Middleton and brother James, but Princess Eugenie was also a student at the boarding school.
Founded in 1843, Marlborough College has taught several famous and wealthy celebrities and their children over the years.
This includes comedian Jack Whitehall, writer Dick King-Smith, artist William Morris, Samantha Cameron, the wife of former MP David Cameron, and Robin Janvrin, former private secretary to Queen Elizabeth II.
Not only would Prince George eventually be able to attend school alongside his sister at Marlborough College, but once settled in Wiltshire he would also be only an hour’s drive from the Cambridges' home.
“Kate’s always wanted them to have more of a normal upbringing than William did,” the royal source told Life&Style Mag.
“It’s not terribly far from home, and Kate will be able to easily visit her kids.”
