Amy Nelson has been teaching happy couples to dance ahead of their big day, but now she’s got her own ‘big day’ at the Wedding Industry Awards.
The Marlborough-based businesswoman who set up Wedding Day Dance UK has become a regional finalist for the South West, and will find out if she’s a winner on November 20.
But there are certainly lots of married couples who already think she’s a winner, as Amy has spent 15 years turning dad-dancers into Strictly pros, and it was her customers who nominated her for the award.
“We are over the moon that our customers enjoyed their wedding dance lessons so much, that they took the time to vote for us. It makes me so happy, as the majority of our wedding couples have never danced before,” said Amy Nelson, founder of Wedding Day Dance UK.
“I’m very proud of our amazing team of wedding dance teachers, it’s great that their talent and expertise is recognized and celebrated.
“We’re absolutely honoured to be shortlisted and we are very excited to attend the awards event next month!”
Amy has lived in Marlborough since 2007 and although her business is run from the town, she helps couples across the country learn how to dance.
But it’s not always just the bride and groom wanting to perfect their moves on the dance floor, as Amy revealed she recently taught a groom's parents who wanted to learn to dance for their son’s wedding.
Each dance is choreographed to a song picked by the couple, and to suit the requirements and abilities of those learning it. This helps couples and other wedding guests feel they are prepared for the big day, and won't get caught out on the dance floor.
Excellent customer service is essential for Amy, so the private wedding dance lessons are scheduled for dates and times that are convenient for each couple, and Amy works with a team of qualified and experienced wedding dance teachers who are based all over the country.
The Wedding Industry Awards recognizes and rewards excellence in the wedding industry, and only past clients can vote.
This year, a record-breaking number of people voted for their nominees, with just under 27,000 clients having their say.
The South West Regional Awards Event will take place on 20th November 2023 at Aldwick Estate near Bristol.
