A Wiltshire service station on the M4 has been named as one of the most family friendly in the country.

Leigh Delamere motorway services, located on the M4 just past junction 17 at Chippenham, was found to be the second most family friendly in the UK in a study released by insurance provider ALA.

This research rated the top 40 service stations by scoring them on their play areas, Google reviews, food options, shops, parking, and hotels.

The study comes as families prepare for the October half-term and road trips across the country.

The Wiltshire services received a family friendliness score of 96.6, narrowly missing out on top spot to Beaconsfield and coming in just ahead of Tebay North in third.

In total, only a third of the service stations analysed as part of the study had play areas for children.

Leigh Delamere was also revealed to offer the cheapest hotel stays of all the facilities which made it onto the list of most family friendly.

A hotel stay at the Wiltshire services was the sixth cheapest of all those analysed, at an average of £49.99 a night.
