A man has been charged after allegedly making a “bomb threat” that sparked the evacuation of two Wiltshire GP surgeries.
Jamie Man-Clarke, of Jennings Road in Marlborough, has been charged with communicating false information after what police believe was a hoax bomb threat.
The Kennet and Avon Medical Partnership surgery in Marlborough reportedly received the threat via a phone call on Wednesday, October 4, which led to the evacuation and temporary closure of the practice’s Marlborough and Pewsey facilities.
The 32-year-old was arrested that evening and was due to appear in Magistrates Court on Friday, October 6.
Following the alleged call, the two surgeries remained closed for several hours while police searched the scene.
Officers later determined that there was no ongoing threat to the public and both surgeries were reopened.
Acting Detective Sergeant Myles Scott said: “This was a serious incident that had a big impact on the community and undoubtedly led to the cancellation of lots of NHS appointments as well as great distress to staff and patients.”
In a statement on Facebook, Kennet and Avon Medical Partnership apologised for any inconvenience and thanked patients for their patience.
