A former Wiltshire auction house boss has been jailed after being found guilty of sexual activity with a child.
Richard Edmonds, the former director of Chippenham-based Richard Edmonds Auctions Limited, was jailed for eight years after he was found guilty of five counts of sexual activity with a girl aged between 13 and 17, whose identity is protected by law.
The 46-year-old, of Colerne, pleaded not guilty to all counts but was found guilty by a jury at Swindon Crown Court.
On Wednesday, September 27, Edmonds was sentenced to a total jail term of eight years.
Edmonds had been the director of Richard Edmonds Auction Limited for more than a decade, taking charge when the business was incorporated in September 2011.
The auction house at Showell Farm Buildings, just off the A350 West Cepen Way in Chippenham, specialises in vintage cars and motorcycles.
On September 19 Edmonds resigned from his role in the company.
Four days later the firm changed its name to Showell Business Park Ltd on September 23, four days before Edmonds’ sentencing.
A spokesperson for the auction house did not wish to make any comment.
