A rare motorbike has been left damaged after it was the victim of a town centre “hit and run”.
Biker Fred Hope parked his 2022 Honda Supercub C125 in Devizes Market Place on the afternoon of Thursday, September 7, after arriving in the town to do some shopping.
When he returned to the busy car park he discovered his bike, and another, had been knocked over by another vehicle and that the perpetrator had fled the scene.
Mr Hope was left waiting to find out the extent of the damage to his bike, which is reportedly one of just 269 of its kind left in the UK.
He said: “My bike was left squashed by another and both were damaged, hopefully not irreparably so.
“It’s a hard bike to get hold of, and is worth around £4,000, and new parts are hard to get.”
Witnesses informed Mr Hope they saw a “van” driving away from the scene and police have confirmed they are searching for a lorry in relation to the incident.
A spokesperson for the force said: “We have received a report of a fail to stop collision in Devizes Market Place last Thursday.
“At around 4.45pm, a lorry was reportedly involved in a collision with two parked motorbikes and has then left the scene.
“Our enquiries are ongoing.”
