People living in Wiltshire are being encouraged to stay active over the August bank holiday, with four leisure centres opening their doors as part of a new trial.
It is part of the latest trial by Active Wiltshire, part of Wiltshire Council.
Residents of Calne, Chippenham, Melksham and Salisbury will be able to keep fit by spending their day off taking a dip in the pool or working out in the gym.
The four leisure centres involved in the trial will open at varying times on Monday, August 28.
Melksham Community Campus will be open between 7.30am-1.30pm, Calne Community Campus will be open from 8am-4pm, Olympiad Leisure Centre will open from 8am-2pm, and Five Rivers Health and Wellbeing Centre will open 6am-1pm.
Active Wiltshire hopes a successful trial will mean more centres potentially remaining open on future bank holidays.
Coun Ian Blair-Pilling, cabinet member for leisure, said: “Most of our leisure centres will be closed this bank holiday. However, as part of a trial to increase access, four centres will be open.
“We look forward to seeing people enjoying a bank holiday workout with us.”
Wiltshire Council currently owns 20 leisure centres, all of which are managed by Active Wiltshire.
