A fledgling Wiltshire waste disposal business aims to save people money and reduce the amount of rubbish going to landfill.

Cotswold Clearance Ltd’s warehouse at the Whitehill Industrial Estate in Royal Wootton Bassett opened its doors on Saturday, August 5.

Having been running for just under a year, the company has now launched its own shop selling recycled items it has gathered, alongside new products too.

Company director Sonny Saunders and partner Milly Arkle have been impressed with the reaction of locals to the new shop.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald: Sonny Saunders and Milly Arkle have recently opened a new warehouse shop.

“We enjoy it but wanted to change the way we dispose of the waste so we decided to convert the storage space under our offices to a shop floor,” said Sonny.

“Now we can sell items and give them a second lifeline rather than just sending them to landfill.

“We’ve had a good amount of people come down so far especially given that it’s only a small shop at the moment.”

The 26-year-old’s business makes an environmental impact by reducing the sheer level of waste sent to landfill.

“We’re a family-run business that clears industrial and commercial waste as well as performing house clearances for the general public,” added Sonny.

“We offer our clients the choice of a waste disposal charge or a reduce, reuse, recycle price on certain items which works out cheaper than a waste disposal charge.

“So this saves them money and reduces the amount of perfectly good waste from going to landfills.”

Cotswold Clearance Warehouse also donates a slice of its profits to local charities.

“It seems wasteful to send perfectly good furniture, clothing and tools to landfills when they can be reused by others,” explained Sonny.

“So we offer our clients the option to allow us to recycle and rehome their once-loved items by selling them in our shop.

“We then donate a percentage of the shops earnings to Swindon Scrapstore and other similar charities so the money is given back into the local community.”

The shop aims to have different items regularly so that there is always something new on offer to customers.

“Our stock will change all the time so there will always be something different in store,” said Sonny.

“We currently have new and used clothing, home decor, tools, children’s toys and more.”

“We are also expanding into the industrial unit next door soon for space for things like new and used furniture.”
