Armed police and dog units detained a group of teenagers in Wiltshire over fears they were “armed with weapons.”
Police were called to Devizes on the afternoon of Friday, July 14, after receiving reports a group of teenagers had been seen “potentially carrying weapons.”
Four people were stopped and searched by officers from an armed response vehicle, alongside Wiltshire Specialist Operations and traffic units.
No weapons were found during the search.
One male member of the group escaped into the countryside outside the town but was tracked down and found hiding in some trees by PD Conan, who was quickly deployed.
He was also searched, and no weapons were found in his possession.
No evidence any crimes had been committed was found and all five individuals were released.
A spokesperson for the force said: “We responded to a report on Friday, July 14, about a group of teenagers in Devizes potentially carrying weapons.
“A total of five people were stopped, one of whom was tracked by a police dog unit. All were searched but no weapons were found.
“They were released as no crimes were found to have been committed.”
