A Wiltshire town is set for a historic weekend as it hosts its first ever Pride event.
Chippenham Pride will hold the town’s first full celebration of pride month in Monkton Park on Saturday, June 17.
A wide array of acts will take to the stage including speakers and comedians, while a Pride walk will also take place.
The large event was born out of a small Pride picnic hosting 20 families in the park last year.
An idea for a full scale event quickly grew into fruition thanks to a small team and those who donated via the group’s GoFundMe.
Penny Richman, the event’s founder and chair, said: “I’ve never doubted the event will be a success, but I know on the day I’m going to have to remember to breathe, to take a step back and see my little idea taking shape in front of my face.
“I’m so proud of what the team have achieved. I’m so grateful to have every single one of the committee members fighting for this event. I can never thank them enough for believing in me and the vision that we jointly created.”
The event is being sponsored by Chippenham Motor Company and Trans in the City.
Those who are interested in attending can find out more on the Chippenham Pride website.
