Pupils at a Wiltshire secondary school were left shocked when a runaway car entered a busy school field.
On the afternoon of Monday, May 22, a large number of children were on the playing field at Hardenhuish School, in Chippenham, when an unmanned car rolled onto the field with “no warning.”
The car belonged to a visitor at the school and had been parked in the car park before it began to move.
Nobody was hurt during the incident.
Headteacher Lisa Percy says the school are now investigating to determine how the vehicle ended up on the field.
She said: “On Monday afternoon, a vehicle belonging to a school visitor rolled from the car park onto the school field. The school is investigating the incident.
“Pupils responded with their usual maturity and thankfully no one was injured. The vehicle was recovered by its owner.”
Parents were informed of the incident shortly after it happened by a message from the school.
It read: “Please be aware that pupils may come home and talk about this as there was no warning and lots of children were on the field.
“Thankfully no one was hurt, and the car has been removed by its owner.”
